Out of the House, Finally

We finally got a little weekend trip to Greenville accomplished. We have been wanting to take Oliva to Reedy Falls since she was born and this weekend finally presented a good opportunity. We have had weeks of rain and this weekend it finally cleared up. Our plan was to leave right at Olivia's nap time so she could sleep in the car for her 1 hour nap, then be awake for our time at the falls. Olivia had different plans. There was no sleep on the way up, and really no sleep there. She was awake for 6 hours (she can hardly make it 2 hours on a normal day.) I guess when there is that much going on she just doesnt want to miss anything. Either way, she was a very good girl the whole time, never fussed or showed any real signs of tiredness. We had a great time. Oh and she got to feed some ducks as well.
Olivia's crawling is getting faster and she is getting braver about exploring. Her only problem is that when she runs into a wall or an obstical, she just continues to butt against it instaed of turning around, leading to crying and butting, crying and butting until we pick her up and turn her around so she can end up at the next obstical and repeat the process. On that note, we have been surprised that she turns on her little crib fish tank light sometimes at night or in the morning. All the while we believed that she hit it with her hand and laid and enjoyed it, but today we found the truth. She crawls and head butts into it and everytime her head hits it, she either turns it on or off. So the tank goes on-off-on-off-on-off with every head contact. She is a wild child in that crib. Time to put some backup secruity straps on there so she wont yank it off. I will try to post a video of her crawling when i get a chance.

We had a great Memorial Day in South Carolina. The forecast was for rain all day but we got nice sunny skies. Not that we were outside much, we pretty much hung out with Olivia inside. Steph and John came down from Charlotte for the day as well. Exciting news, Olivia took her first crawling steps today. She is now a crawler, though not zipping around yet, she can crawl slowly to where ever she wants now.
My cold has almost disappeared, but it is still holding on longer than I am used to. I still have a little cough and sound kind of congested. Not sure why this one wont seem to go away. Oh well, soon enough I guess. Olivia is spending the night at Mima and Grandpa's tonight. The days of looking forward to her spending the night away so we could get sleep are gone. She has been sleeping through the night just fine, so really, we have no reason to rejoice when she is gone, we just miss her. Brooke is trying to adjust to being a stay at home mom for the summer. It is a big adjustment from working and being able to get out of the house for a few hours each day for adult conversation.
That is it for now. Talk to you all later.

Back from Florida. Pretty much anyone who reads this blog was IN Florida when we were there so not much to tell. We visited with a lot of friends we haven't seen in a while. Grandma and Grandpa got some Livi time and Matt and Steph got to finally meet Olivia.
I have gotten a cold since I have been back and therefore don't feel like updating anything. Besides, nothing has really happened since we got back, just catching up at work and with normal life.
Olivia has actually come up with a new game. She bounces like crazy on the Jumparoo and then will stand as tall as she can on her tippy toes and freeze and look at us, and we make a serious face back. Then she will start jumping again and we bob our heads and smile, and then stop on her tippy toes again and we make a serious face at her when she stops. She loves it.

Leaving on a jet plane..

..Our bags are almost packed. Brooke was up all night getting the house clean and laying out clothes. I bathed the dogs and did their nails. My friend from work is taking Lulu for the week and Marcia is taking Zoe and Chili, we get Olivia!! Olivia stayed at Mima's house last night because Brooke had some lectures at PC yesterday. Mima will bring Olivia back to our house today and watch her while Brooke goes to a friend's baby shower. After that Marcia will take the dogs and head back home. Tonight we will finish our packing and get ready to fly out to FL! Yay, it is finally here. We are both excited. Olivia is anxious about her first plane flight. We have lots of sanitizer to keep us all safe from the luming Swine Flue that the news likes to work up so much. I think we can keep Olivia entertained for the flight. She will be a good girl.
The picture here is from Mima's house last night. Olivia loves hanging out at Mima's house.

Packing It Up

Last night we packed up one of Olivia's toys for good. Her little mat that she lays on and plays with. She has become a situp girl now and is either sitting up on the ground with her toys or bouncing in her jumparoo. All the toys you see around her were once in a pile in front of her. She plays with them then puts them right at the end of arms reach, hence the little arc surrounding her. Such a big girl. She has been sleeping through the night every night now (which I hope doesn't change after her next round of shots.)
I have also learned that I am at risk of being one of those parents that wont let go. Olivia has started being able to hold her own juice bottle when she goes down for a nap. I let her hold it the first time, then felt sad that she could do it and realized that she didn't need me to help her hold it every time. Now I wish that I hadn't let her so she could depend on me to hold it for her. Oh well, I guess there will be many more of these moments to come for me.

Olivia keeps growing. She is now able to get on all fours and rock back and forth getting ready to crawl. She is actually crawling backwards now like a little inch worm. She will get on her hands and knees, then next thing you know she will be a few feet behind where she started. It will be very soon before she starts crawling.
On a side note, that crib recall that is going on now, she has that crib. So now we will need to replace her crib in the next few weeks. What a pain. And this after Rob made us that changing table to match her crib. Hopefully we can get one to resemble her current crib.
