The Pigs Are Back

First, when heading home yesterday we saw a horse walking in our neighborhood.  It actually crossed the busy street to get to our neighborhood.  Was very odd seeing someone riding a horse on streets, but this Clinton, so I guess nothing is out of bounds here.

Since the weather was perfect yesterday, we took Olivia to the farm after we finished our final Christmas shopping.  We grabbed some apples, sliced them up and headed to the farm.  Livi was very excited when she saw where we were going.  It has been a long time since we visited.  The first thing we noticed was that the pigs were back.  Well, not the same pigs, the original ones were bacon, but these were new baby pigs.  Livi loved them, and was as excited to see them as we were.

After seeing the pigs and feeding the goats, we headed over to see the bunnies at Livis request (she still remembered exactly where they were and asked to see them.)  While looking in the bunny pen, we noticed a little mole like creature slowly moving around on the floor and asked one of the caretakers if the bunnies had babies.  They said “no”, but we insisted that there was some strange creature in there.  The caretaker came over and looked and sure enough, they were baby bunnies.  The mother was giving birth right that second and we saw three come out right then.  It was kind of exciting, but Livi didn’t seem to care much, and really wanted to go see the chickens.

After this Livi was hungry, which we deduced from her eating the apples we brought for the goats, and she started having one of her meltdowns that she has when hunger has her in its grasp.  We said goodbye to the farm and called it a day.

Livi Sick Day

Olivia came home from school yesterday with a fever, but didn’t act sick at all.  She actually only came home an hour early so no big deal. This morning she woke up with out a fever but very puny.  I decided to keep her home today since she really didn’t look like she was school worthy today.  A good part of the morning was spent with her laying down watching her favorite movie, but after a while she perked up and started to play.  We will see how tomorrow goes, if she wakes up fine we will send her, if not, it will be another day at home.  At least she is having fun!!

New Hat

For my birthday I got some gag gifts in this mini laundry basket.  We decided to give it to Livi to hold some of her toys, she decided to use it as a hat.  Such a creative little girl!

Sorry for the sideways video.  I took it wrong and can’t flip it as it is.

No Looking!! Followup

I decided to sneak a quick video of Olivia being a brat.  Not the best example of her shenanigans, but you can get the point.  Notice the thick accent of her teacher, if Olivia doesn’t grow up with a SC accent I will be surprised!

Santa and Pictures

0003 We went and got Olivia’s pictures taken on Sunday.  The plan was to go to our 4:30 appointment, get the pictures, then head over to the mall and get the picture with Santa Clause.  The picture place was running one hour behind, so we didn't even get in until 5:30 to get the pictures.  Keeping Olivia happy for an hour in a chaotic picture studio with tons of other kids and families was not easy, especially since Olivia isn't great at sharing the Lego's that were there, and her inability to sit still.  However, we got through it just fine and she did very well getting her picture taken.  We got some good ones.

After the pictures, it was about 6:15 and we headed to see Santa.  The Santa line was about 1/2 hour long so again with the waiting.  I walked around with Livi for a while and gave her some dinner while Brooke waited in line.  We were actually the last people in line because they closed the line right after us.  When we FINALLY got to the front of the line, Brooke approached the photographer and told him to just snap the pictures regardless of whether Livi was crying or not, then told Santa that we would back Olivia into him and to get ready for the picture quickly before she even knew what was happening.  The place was impressed with Brooke’s organization and project management!  Brooke carried Olivia into the area and backed her onto Santa’s lap and as soon as we both backed up out of the way the screaming began.  There were some good screaming pictures, but we decided on this pouty face since we have enough screaming pics of her with various holiday creatures.  Yet another in a long line of upset Santa pictures.  Some day Lee, you will learn to love him!!

Floater

Well it finally happened.  Livi pooped in the tub.  It wasn’t horrible, but was still gross.  No pictures…No long post…Just the haunting memory of Livi sitting in tub water with a few little poops in there with her.  Hopefully this does not become a regular occurrence.

1st Haircut

Long overdue, but Olivia had her first haircut Saturday.  She did real well, no crying.  Livi go a little squirmy, but sat still for most of the time with me helping keep her entertained.  It was sad to see the baby curls go away, but it looks good all being the same length in the back now.

New Table

Mima and Grandpa Rob got Olivia a new little table for Christmas. We received it in the mail early and got permission to put it together before Christmas. She seems to really like it. She asked for curious George this morning while sitting at it which is something she hasn't watched for a long time. She was so cute watching it. Laughed the whole time and kept naming all the animals in it to me. Thanks for the table Mima and Grandpa.

No Looking!

One of Olivia’s personality traits is that she is not a morning person.  This can be observed in many ways.  I am usually first in the firing line when I go in to get her in the morning.  I will wait until I see her standing on the baby monitor.  I will not go in until she is standing because before that time it is way too early.  After standing I know that I have a shot of getting her out of bed in an OK mood.  Typically she will cry or throw a fit as soon as I pick her up and put her on the changing table.  The morning will get better once she gets out and gets her milk.

Getting dressed can be touch and go.  Typically she doesn’t like it, but she is getting better.  Brushing her teeth has added a new dynamic to her bad mood mornings.  She now does not like it at all, not at night or in the morning.

When Olivia gets to school, the other kids are usually sitting at the table waiting for their toast, she normally one of the last ones there since we don’t need to drop her off too early.  She will walk into the room, stand in front of the two tables and wave her arm with a “uuuhhhh” sound and say “No Looking, No Looking!!” or other times if they say hi she responds “No Talking!!”  Ms. Carolyn (her “teacher”) will always say “Ok you all, you know Olivia doesn’t like being talked to in the morning.”  Such a little prima donna. Already setting her own rules at school.  Ridiculous… She probably has the contract for the lead in the movie Mean Girls 2 when it comes out.

Ready For Winter

Livi is all ready for winter.  The socks were her idea, but the rest Mommy bought for her.

New Toothbrush

We figured it was time for Olivia to have an electric toothbrush just like us.  She has taken to it well.  Now she has a new toothpaste (training toothpaste) and she likes it as well, because it taste fun, unlike the mint stuff she had earlier.  My favorite part is when she thinks she is spitting it out.  I need to work with her on how to spit out water.  Maybe we should practice in the tub?

Phone Test

I just wanted to do a test post from my phone. Live grabbed my hat and put it on by herself while watching the Madagascar penguins on tv. We will be heading out when she wakes up in an hour or so and getting our Christmas tree. Livi is so excited. We tried earlier and they weren't open yet.

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving this year.  We headed down to Lexington after Olivia’s nap and got there around 3:00.  Brooke made cupcakes shaped like turkeys for dessert and also bought a pumpkin pie.  We ate lunch and then played in the back yard for a while, then came back in for dessert.  We thought ahead and brought the DVD player so our trip home would not be full of screams, and it worked perfectly.  It is our new best friend for the long car rides.

Boom!

Poor Livi.  Last night after her bath, she got her normal crazies where she wants to run around wild instead of having story time.  I was standing in the living room with her book heading back to the couch when Livi came running out of the bedroom and right past me into the sunroom.  A second or two later we heard a loud thump, then the silence of the impending loud scream that would happen after she took her next breath.  We ran to her and saw that she had tripped on the dog’s pillow and landed face first into the sliding glass door track.  Just in time for Christmas pictures.

This morning she seemed fine, except she kept touching her cut.  It doesn’t seem to bother her too much though at least.  Hope it goes away soon!!

The Zoo

Sunday we finally got a chance to bring Olivia to the Zoo.  We decided to go early and not wait for the afternoon after her nap to get a good amount of time there.  We got to the zoo around 10:00, met Mima there and started our little zoo adventure.  Olivia was pretty tired to begin with and we had her in her stroller for the first 45 minutes.  She didn’t seem to care too much about anything, but did smile and say some of the animal’s names.  We decided after we got into the reptile building to let her run around and see stuff instead of being stuck in the chair.  This is what she really wanted and after that she had a great time.  We saw all kinds of animals and the weather was perfect.  She got to ride a carousel again and loved it.  She got to feed giraffes and have birds sit on her head.  When we bought the little cup of nectar for the bird area we had no idea how close the birds would come.  The lady said “go in and hold on to the cup tight.”  As soon as we walked in the birds swooped and were all over us.  Livi was pretty tolerant until two landed on her head, after that it was a little much and she started squirming.  I passed her off to Brooke and the birds stayed with me, except on that stayed on Livi’s head for the rest of the time, but I don’t think she noticed.  We just couldn’t stop laughing.  It was a great day at the zoo and plan on going again for sure.

More Birthday Videos

Here are a few more videos of Livi’s 2nd birthday party.  I also forgot to mention that Saturday night after we got home from the party, I put Olivia on the potty as usual, and she pooped.  One giant step for Livi, and she laughed and loved it.  I was very surprised.

This video was from before we headed down to Mima and Boto’s house.  We decided to open a few gifts in the morning so we didn’t have to transport them back and forth between our house and Lexington.

This video is at Mima and Boto’s house.  It also features the famous singing card that Livi could not put down!!

Happy 2nd Birthday

Saturday Olivia turned 2 years old.  She could even tell you if you asked her how old she is that she is “two.”  She is becoming such a big girl.

Friday afternoon Mom and Dad got into Clinton to spend Friday and Saturday with Livi before heading back home Saturday evening.  They got some good Livi time in Friday evening before bedtime.  Saturday morning they came back to our house and played with Olivia before her nap time.  After nap, we all headed down to Lexington to have Livi’s part at Mima and Boto’s house.  We opened presents, which started with a musical card that captured Olivia’s attention for a long time to where we had to hide it so the opening could continue.  Who knew that a music card would make Olivia NOT want to open presents.

After presents, we had dinner and birthday cake.  It was a long day for Livi but she had a great time.  Happy Birthday Lee!!
