Clinton Fair

Clinton had its yearly Fall Festival downtown, equipped with funnel cake, random booths selling stuff and rides for kids.  Olivia started out in the bounce house as usual, but caught sight of the “candy corn” ride, and wanted to ride it, so we headed over to it.  She was never reluctant getting on, and was invited to share the seat with three other kids that were there as she was getting into one car by herself.  She accepted and enjoyed the ride with them.  Now that she has been on real rides, it is looking like bounce houses are not as fun anymore.  All she wanted to do was keep going on these rides.  She had a great time.

Diva

On the way to the pumpkin patch last weekend, the sun was bright and bugging Olivia’s eyes.  Livi asked if she could have her sunglasses, but we didn’t have them.  Brooke asked “would you like to wear mine?”  Livi of course answered yes.  So, we gave them to her and she wore them for 45 minutes until we got to the pumpkin patch.  Such a little diva.

Pumpkin Patch

DSC_2009-1Sunday was pumpkin patch day.  After a non-existent nap that ended in a poop explosion (TMI?) we headed on down to Lexington to the Harmon Tree Farm to find a pumpkin.

We got to the pumpkin patch and headed to the play ground area where there were swings, seesaws, play-houses etc.  That is her favorite part.  We played around there for a while and then decided to head down the the petting zoo area.  There were donkeys, emu, peacocks, goats and other animals.  Olivia had fun petting the donkey, but wasn’t too interested in anything else, other than all the kids running around.

Too bad the farm is for sale and this is the last year the Harmon’s will be operating it.  We hope that someone buys it and re-opens it for next season.  This is Livi’s third time going there.

Halloween From Indiana

Aunt Gail and Uncle Merle sent some Halloween gifts our way.  We opened them early (and ate them early.)  Livi loves dancing with the dancing ghost, I just wish it had a volume button!

Thanks Gail and Merle!

Tailgate

Saturday was PC’s homecoming game.  The stadium was full of bounce houses, slides, trains and fun games for kids.  Brooke’s department set up a table for alumni who majored in Psychology (or any other Alumni that wanted to stop by.)

Livi had a great time playing with all the kids and eating all kinds of fun stuff.  She loved the bounce house and slide but especially loved the train.

The balloon animal guy was there again as well and made Olivia a monkey balloon that fit on her head.

It was a fun day.  She came home and took a long nap.  We look forward to next year!

Big Bed

DSC_1831Olivia is growing up too fast (though she should have been in this a lot earlier.)  Olivia had her first night and first nap in her ‘big girl’ bed.  We converted her crib by taking off one of the sides.  She was so excited when I did it.  The first step was that I took the side off the crib before we left for Greenville to get a guard for the side and go to dinner.  Suddenly we had a little leverage, we told her while we were out and she was misbehaving that we would make her bed a baby bed again if she didn’t act like a big girl.  It worked pretty well.  When we got home, Brooke bathed her and I put the guard together and on the bed.  Olivia started throwing a fit before bed and I walked into her room with the old side of the crib and said that I was going to put it back into a baby bed, she went ballistic, crying and screaming and saying NO!!!  It shocked us both that she reacted so strongly to not having a big girl bed.

After all the fussing about wanting a big girl bed, she was scared to go in at first that night.  I rocked her twice and she finally accepted going  into the bed.  I think she was kind of scared.  At first she said she wanted the baby bed back and didn’t want the guard on it, but she was ok after a bit.  She slept all night just fine.  I was up in the morning before her and saw her wake up.  She woke up and laid around for a bit, the put her legs over the side and on the stool, but then pulled them back up and stayed in the bed until I got her.  She was very proud of the fact that she stayed in bed.  I am sure that won’t last but at least for now she is happy.

Sunday afternoon was her first nap in the bed, and she did great as well.  She went right to sleep (she was tired and getting over a little cold) and when she woke up, she called for Brooke to get her rather than exit the bed herself.  Such a big girl!!
